MATERIALI MATERIALS:

• Fimo nei colori - marrone, giallo e bianco
• Brown, yellow and white polymer clay

ATTREZZI EQUIPMENT:

• Piastrella o supporto liscio
• plain surface (e.g. tile)
• macchina per la posta (o rullo)
• pasta machine ( or roller )
• Lama affilata (tissue blade o simili)
• Slicing blade

PASSO 1 STEP 1:

• Miscelare il bianco con pochissimo giallo fino ad ottenere un colore giallino banana
• Mix white with a little bit of yellow until you get the right pale yellow 'banana' color
• Modellare con questo giallino  un cilindro di circa 1 cm di diametro e 3 di lunghezza
• Roll out a log of pale yellow clay about 1 cm diameter and 3 cm long

PASSO 2 STEP 2 :

• Stendere una sfoglia giallina e spessa  circa 3 millimetri (spessore #1 sulla macchina della pasta) e tagliarla a listarelle
• Fare lo stesso (sfoglia e poi listarelle) con il marrone
• Make two rettagles , one of brown and one of pale yellow on the  #1 setting of the pasta machine (about 3 mm thick)
• Rivestire per la lunghezza il cilindro giallino alternando le listarelle gialline e marroni
• Cut some strips (about 3 mm wide) from the rectangles and then put them all around the pale yellow log as shown in the picture.

PASSO 3 STEP 3 :

• Avvolgere la murrina del passo 2 con almeno 3 sfoglie di giallino. Attenzione a non sovrapporre la sfoglia sulla giuntura , tagliatela in modo da farla combaciare perfettamente.
• Wrap the step 2 log in at least 3 sheets of pale yellow clay, please pay attention not to  overlap the sheets in the joint

PASSO 4 STEP 4 :

• La composizione della murrina è terminata ora bisogna inziare a ridurla
• The cane making is over , now let's start to reduce it
• Iniziare la riduzione partendo dal centro della murrina, esercitare una pressione leggera ma costante tutto intorno e pian piano risalire fino ad un estremo. poi capovolgere la murrina e, ripatendo dal centro, ridurla man mano fino a raggiungere l'altro estremo
• Grab the cane in the middle, squeeze and turn,  squeeze and turn..out to one end, then turn the log upside down, still grab it in the middle than squeeze and turn, squeeze and turn.. to the other end.
• Posare la murrina sulla piastrella e rotolarla leggermente fino ad uniformarla.
• Put the cane down on the tile (or work surface) and start rolling it carefully till it's smooth

PASSO 5 STEP 5 :

• La riduzione fara' allungare molto la murrina, per maneggiarla meglio ad un certo punto tagliarla a meta' e riprendere la riduzione di ciascun segmento separatamente
• Cane reduction will make the cane become too long to handle it well so cut it in two parts and go on reducing each part separately.

PASSO 6 STEP 6

• Ripetere il passo 5 fino a che si e' raggiunta la riduzione desiderata
• Repeat step 5 until you get the reduction you like

COTTURA BAKING :

• Cuocere le murrine alla temperatura indicata sulla confezione (130° gradi per il Fimo) per qualche minuto e poi affettarle per ottenere tutte le fettine di banana desiderate. Per comodità ho usato l'imballaggio di alcuni biscotti per non appiattire le murrine nel punto di appoggio durante al cottura
• Bake the banana canes (130 C° for Fimo) for some minutes and then slice them as needed. I used a cookies wrap paper sheet to bake them to avoid the flattening where the canes touch the tile
